![]() Oh, and the furry leather no name pair from Germany. My point? Here are the old ones that I still wear about weekly: my Docs (1988), Palladiums, the Corchorans and a pair of equestrian style no-name boots I bought from a leather shoe-maker in Sicily for 300 euro. ![]() I wear them to work, I wear them with jeans, I wear them with dresses. I mean, I am looking at a closet FILLED with boots. I bought myself another pair in the 00's and I love them, they're a damn fine boot.Īnd listen, I BOOT. (I was 14) So they were 21 years old and gorgeous when I lost them. But I wore my dad's from jump school until someone stole them around 1987. Now, I love them because I'm female and I think jump boots just look better on me with the slim ankle. If anyone has any tips please let me know. I think my next pair will be Solovairs or maybe even just some Chelsea boots from a random company. Whereas they used to be for life, Doc Martens now will not last you a year unless you just stand around indoors. Sure, I walk more than the average person (about 10km a day) in quite harsh weather, but if I had known Docs were this bad I would just have bought Solovairs or something better. I contacted the company to complain, but they were extremely unhelpful and had a dismissive attitude. In my short experience I have never seen a shoe in this price range burst open so fast, and the soles wear away so quickly. I take care of my shoes regularly, polishing, cleaning etc. Yesterday the seam finally gave way and now I can put my finger through it. When I picked them up for this season again, the crease became a hole in the toe cap, and the seam at the back of one began coming apart. The first winter was fine, though it began creasing way too much. I had hoped the pair would last at least a couple of years, if not more. I use boots daily for about 6 months at a time (Oct-Apr) in the hard winters here up north in Stockholm (Sweden). I bought a pair of the classic 1460 (not made in England) in Oct/Nov of 2019. ![]() They probably used to have great boots in the old days.
